Imagine this: your child arrives at Kindergarten ready to read. Little Child Big Mind is a specialist school readiness program for children in the year before school. The year before school, built around what Kindergarten actually demands.
Formal literacy instruction now begins in Week 2 or 3 of Term 1 of Kindergarten. We have found that many children aren’t ready for it, not because anything is wrong with them, but because nothing in the year before school was built around what that first term actually demands. Little Child Big Mind exists to close that gap.

Using The Little Child Big Mind Method™, we prepare children for the real demands of Kindergarten through explicit teaching, purposeful play and carefully planned learning experiences that build the skills they need for school and beyond.
Arriving ahead, not catching up.
Arriving ahead,
not catching up.
Kindergarten moves fast from the very first week. These are the six foundations we build across every session, so your child walks in ready for what’s coming, not scrambling to keep up.
01Early Literacy & Phonics
Children build strong foundations for reading through systematic, explicit phonics instruction. They learn letter-sound relationships, develop phonological and phonemic awareness, and begin using these skills to blend sounds and read words.
02Early Numeracy
Children develop strong number foundations through hands-on learning. They build number recognition, counting and one-to-one correspondence, explore quantity and number relationships, and begin developing the mathematical thinking they’ll use in Kindergarten.
03Vocabulary & Oral Language
Children are introduced to rich vocabulary through stories, conversations and meaningful experiences. They learn new words, practise expressing their ideas and build the language and background knowledge that supports reading comprehension and classroom learning.
04Fine Motor Development
Children strengthen the hand muscles, coordination and pencil control needed for writing, cutting and classroom tasks. Through purposeful fine motor experiences, they build the control and confidence needed to use classroom tools independently.
05Attention, Regulation & Classroom Readiness
Children learn to listen and respond to instructions, participate in group learning, move between activities, manage routines and develop the attention and self-regulation needed in a classroom.
06Confidence & Independence
Children are encouraged to have a go, solve problems, complete tasks with increasing independence and feel proud of what they can do. The goal is for children to walk into Kindergarten feeling capable, confident and ready to participate.

Four purposeful hours, balanced the way young children learn.

Explicit teaching is at the heart of what we do, but young children learn best when focused instruction is balanced with movement, play and time to practise on their own. Across the session, children move between short bursts of teaching, small-group learning, hands-on activities and play, so they stay engaged, build real understanding and enjoy coming to school.

He can be a little nervous in new situations, and Palmina and her team made him feel safe, supported, and at ease. I found the program strongly aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework, and it prepared him beautifully for the demands of school. He has now had a smooth transition into Kindergarten and has made good progress in all subject areas, thanks to LCBM for laying such strong foundations for his learning.

KateFrom day one, Palmina and the team created such a warm, welcoming, and nurturing atmosphere that our child quickly developed a sense of safety, belonging, and confidence. Academically, our child has made significant progress with letter recognition, phonics, numbers, and early literacy skills. We recommend LCBM wholeheartedly to all families. In fact, we happily drive over 45 minutes each way because we believe the quality of care and education is truly worth it.

WafaAll three of my children have attended the program. My older two gained so much, and the confidence they had walking into Kindergarten was incredible. They were well prepared, eager to learn, and had developed important skills such as handwriting, communication, sight words and just overall school readiness. We would recommend Little Child Big Mind to any friends and family wanting to give their child the best start to their learning journey.

AntoniettaPalmina and her team have helped my daughter with her kindy prep and confidence within a few months of being there. My daughter requests to attend extra days because of how much she loves it! Would highly recommend Little Child Big Mind for children prior to kindy.

AshleyBy the time he started Kindergarten, he was confident, independent, and genuinely excited about learning. The transition to school was incredibly smooth, and he settled in far more easily than we had anticipated. I highly recommend Little Child Big Mind to other families. It truly bridges the gap between daycare and school, providing children with the structure, skills, and confidence needed for a successful transition into the classroom.

MichelleFrom the day our little one stepped into your doors we knew he would be on a positive journey with you all. In the first two weeks we noticed a big difference in him. The tailored lessons, individualised attention, and a supportive environment that fostered his growth have all played a part in making him so much more confident and independent. We honestly cannot thank you all enough.

JoumanaMy kids attended the Little Child Big Mind pre-kindy program, and it provided the best possible foundation for their transition from daycare to kindergarten. I especially appreciated how closely the program mirrored a real school day, helping them become comfortable with classroom routines and expectations.
Palmina and her team were exceptional, not only in developing my children's academic skills but also in nurturing their emotional and social growth. My son left the program and, during his kindergarten interview, we were told he was performing ahead of some Year 1 students. What I valued just as much was Palmina's honest, practical feedback. She doesn't just teach children - she truly understands them, meets them where they are, and knows exactly how to bring out their confidence and potential. She has a remarkable ability to engage children with different personalities, learning styles, and individual needs, helping each one thrive in their own way.
